Fourth and Towne

http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/9054063/

The Gap introduces Fourth and Towne. Fourth and Towne is for baby boomers who have been sized out of The Gap and Banana Republic. This store offers more of a variety for those who no longer what the twenty something look. Women over 35 make up 39 percent of today’s retail expenditures. With the same price range as the other two stores, former Gap shoppers will be right at home. Each store, however, has different designers and different types of clothing according to the label. For example, one store may sell the Gap Brand and another may sell Allegory. I think this is a good idea for The Gap. This gives a wide range of variety for those who can no longer shop at The Gap or Banana Republic and still wants to look and feel professional. The Gap needs to expand more and that is exactly what they are doing which is helping their business and their customers as well. The Gap should continue to open more of these stores nation wide. Currently there are only stores in New York but soon there will be stores located nation wide.

  1. This is a very fun and exciting idea. I can't wait to go in one and find some stuff, since my style is more old fashioned anyways. The only problem I foresee with this is that most older people are pretty set in their own ways and I can't see them trying out a new store. Also, I am concerned to whether or not the clothes will satisfy an older woman. I know my mom and grandma both are very particular about the kind of clothes they like, so hopefully gap and Fourth and Towne are taking the neccessary steps to make sure the clothes is apporpriate and fits the styles and requests of that generation. It will be very interesting to see how this store does. Especially with the economy where it's at, I highly doubt now would be the best time for gap to do this, but i guess we'll just have to wait and see.

  2. That is such a good idea on Gap’s part. They are expanding their chain but not excluding different age group from their business. I never would have guessed that Gap would cater to the baby boomers. My grandma is one year shy of being a baby boomer but I am glad they are including them. Just because they are old doesn’t mean they shouldn’t look cute! I already love Gap and its stores and this just puts the cherry on top. I especially love their store Piperlime. Their shoes are ADORABLE! Anyway, good job on finding this article! Not only did you expand your research, you informed those of us who love Gap! Thanks a bunch!
